SCREENING PROGRAM

September 1 - MAMMA MIA!

Musical / Romance / Comedy, USA / Great Britain / Germany, 2008, 109 min

A charming film adaptation of the famous musical, which was seen by more than thirty million people in one hundred and sixty cities of the world. It tells the story of a single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island. He is about to marry his daughter Sophia, but she intends to find out who her father is before the wedding... A sunny comedic romance, in the final shape of which, in addition to the screenwriter and author of the play, Catherine Johnson, former members of the ABBA band Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson took part, draws its captivating energy, among other things, from the famous songs of the legendary Swedish pop group.

September 2 - BABYLON

Drama / Comedy, USA, 2022, 189 min

Babylon is a multi-genre fresco that will not let its heroes or the audience breathe. The wildest place on Earth. A place where stars rise and fade quickly. Hollywood. Three stories - the story of the man on top, the girl who climbs him, and the boy who walked by - frame Damien Chazelle's crazy and spectacular cinematic ride. Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and newcomer Diego Calva excel in the lead roles of his Babylon. "I wanted to look under a microscope at the early years of the film industry, at a time when it was still searching for itself. I liked the incredible dynamism of that time and how quickly it was able to change people's destinies," director Damien Chazelle (La La Land, Whiplash) describes his motivation for writing and filming epic Babylon. After all, the fact that Babylon is not "just" a movie, but a "cinematic experience" underlines the fact that Chazelle and his team worked on it for almost fifteen years.

In case of bad weather, we reserve the right to cancel the projection and inform you about this fact on our website www.botanicka.cz
