Build a Czech Meadow With LEGO® Bricks

What to Expect

Over four days, you can help us create a Czech meadow from LEGO® bricks. Choose one of five plants, build it and add it to the shared installation. The meadow will quite literally grow flower by flower.

Five Plants. Five Stories of Czech Nature

The meadow will be inspired by five plants native to the Czech landscape. Some are now exceptionally rare and are disappearing from the wild in many parts of the country.

Eastern pasqueflower (Pulsatilla patens)
Its blue-violet flowers turn towards the sun on sunny days, helping them absorb as much warmth as possible. Today, it is one of the country's rarest plants.

Mountain arnica (Arnica montana)

You can find its striking yellow flowers in places such as the Krkonoše Mountains and Šumava, where it grows mainly in mountain and upland habitats.

Galatella cana
This exceptionally rare species was last recorded in South Moravia around 200 years ago, near what was then a salt lake at Měnín.

Leafless iris (Iris aphylla)
It was first described in 1794 from Chuchle in Prague, where it can still be found today. It also grows in the Central Bohemian Uplands, the Bohemian Karst and the Kokořínsko region.

Martagon lily (Lilium martagon)
This striking pink-flowered lily is found mainly in open deciduous woodland and along woodland edges.

Once you have completed your botanical mission, you can take home a small LEGO® flower as a keepsake.
The event brings together play and creativity with an introduction to Czech nature and the stories of plants that deserve our attention.

A pasqueflower you won't miss

The centrepiece of the installation will be a 2.2-metre-tall model of an Eastern pasqueflower made from LEGO® bricks, created at the LEGO factory in Kladno.

The giant model celebrates the beauty of one of the threatened plants of the Czech landscape, while showing just how much can be created, one brick at a time.

When and where?

The event takes place 17–20 September 2026, from 10.00 to 18.00 each day.

The LEGO® building activity will be held in the Ornamental Garden, under a covered marquee.

Admission

Building the Czech meadow is included in the standard admission to Prague Botanical Garden and no advance booking is required.

The activity area can accommodate approximately 60 visitors per hour. If it is full when you arrive, you may need to wait briefly until a space becomes available.

Guided tours of the Archa Bohemica exposition (Czech only)

After exploring the LEGO meadow, you can set off in search of real plants from the Czech landscape. During our guided tours, our guides will introduce you to the Archa Bohemica display.

Archa Bohemica presents a range of habitats from across the Czech Republic – from the rocky landscapes of the Lower Vltava region, the Bohemian Karst and serpentine areas, to white limestone slopes, wetlands and salt marshes.
The plants in the exhibition come from the wild and are grown in conditions that closely resemble their natural habitats. This gives them significant value as a genetic resource, and Prague Botanical Garden also reintroduces some of these plants to the wild. Near the bell tower, you can also find species that are now considered extinct in the Czech Republic.

Each tour is limited to 20 people.

The guided tour is free with admission to the botanical garden, but advance booking is required.
Please note that admission to the Botanical Garden is not included in the tour reservation and must be purchased separately, either online or at the ticket office when visiting the Garden. By booking a specific time slot, you are reserving your place on the guided tour only.
