CARNIVOROUS PLANTS: Deadly Allure – Exhibition & Plant Sale

WHAT CAN YOU LOOK FORWARD TO?

The exhibition is spread across several areas of the botanical garden:

• Exhibition Hall
• Fata Morgana Greenhouse
• Peat Bog in the Upper Garden

Get up close with carnivorous plants – examine them under a magnifying glass, touch selected specimens, and discover their fascinating, deadly methods of catching prey.

Informational panels will accompany the displays, and visitors can purchase their own carnivorous (or other) plants at the plant sale located in the square next to the Exhibition Hall in the Ornamental Garden.

The exhibition will also feature a rich accompanying programme. Don’t miss the Carnivorous Festival on the weekend of 21–22 June, filled with music, delicious food, and fun activities.

Popular creative events such as the Florarium Workshop and other hands-on activities for both children and adults will also be available.

Dates & Opening Hours

The live carnivorous plant exhibition runs from 13 to 29 June 2025.

The exhibition is open daily, including weekends and public holidays, from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm.

The Fata Morgana Greenhouse is open Tuesday to Sunday, including public holidays, from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm.

TIPS FOR A PLEASANT VISIT

• Quieter atmosphere on weekdays – enjoy the displays and shop for plants in peace.
• Weekends tend to be busier – expect higher attendance and possible queues at the entrance.
• Use public transport if possible – parking is limited, and the route from the parking lot to the Exhibition Hall includes hilly terrain.
• Exhibition opening hours – the exhibition in the Exhibition Hall is open daily, 9.00 am to 7.00 pm. The Fata Morgana Greenhouse is open Tuesday to Sunday, 9.00 am to 7.00 pm.
• Plant sale – located in the square in front of the Exhibition Hall of the Ornamental Garden, following the exhibition opening hours (daily, 9.00 am to 7.00 pm).
• E-tickets save time – With an online ticket, you can proceed directly to the turnstiles and skip the ticket office queue. (website in Czech only).

ADMISSION

Admission to the exhibition is included in the standard entrance fee to the botanical garden, which provides access to all expositions, exhibitions, and ongoing events (unless otherwise specified).

 E-ticket purchases (Czech language only) come with a 15% discount on admission.

Annual passes, neighbourhood passes, and VIP tickets are valid for this event.

* Dog entry is allowed only in Outdoor expositions.

** ZTP/P visitors are entitled to one accompanying person free of charge.

PLANT SALE

For visitors enchanted by the exhibition, a popular plant sale will take place in the square in front of the Exhibition Hall of the Ornamental Garden. You will find a wide selection of carnivorous plants, as well as bonsai, succulents, and other botanical treasures.

The sale area also offers gardening supplies and expert advice, with friendly vendors ready to help you choose the right plants and share useful care tips – whether you’re just starting out or already a seasoned grower.

Access to the plant sale area requires a valid garden entry ticket.

Plant sale opening hours: daily 9.00 am–7.00 pm.

Payment methods: cash and card accepted.

CARNIVOROUS FESTIVAL

As part of the exhibition, you're invited to the Carnivorous Festival on the weekend of 21–22 June – a food event with a fittingly bold theme.

Enjoy a wide selection of meat dishes and beverages, along with an entertaining, family-friendly programme.

SAND ART WORKSHOP

Join us for this playful activity on the weekend of 21–22 June! From 11.00 am to 5.00 pm, you can create your very own colourful carnivorous plant from sand in the Ornamental Garden.

For a symbolic fee of 90 CZK, explore the world of vibrant sand art — fun for both children and adults. A great way to take home a unique memory of your visit.
