The Prague Botanical Garden is preparing a new permanent exposition celebrating the rich diversity of Korean flora. You can follow the journey leading to its creation through the panel exhibition Plant Communities of Korea, which captures not only the natural beauty of the Republic of Korea but also the behind-the-scenes work of experts, from field expeditions to the architectural design of the exposition itself. |
East Asia is one of the world’s richest regions in terms of plant diversity, and the flora of the Korean Peninsula forms a significant part of this natural wealth. To honour this diversity, the Prague Botanical Garden is creating a new exposition dedicated to Korean plants. It will complement the garden’s existing areas, showcasing species from China and Japan.
The photographic exhibition Plant Communities of Korea introduces visitors to the landscapes of Korea and offers insight into the development of the new exposition. It captures the natural beauty of the country’s protected areas, including sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The exhibition also documents the professional process behind the project, from expeditions and plant material collection to cultivation in the garden’s facilities and the future planting schemes. An architectural concept of the forthcoming exposition is also part of the exhibition.
Attention is also given to an upcoming publication that documents the botanical expedition in detail, from its progress and results to future goals. The exhibition thus offers a comprehensive view of a long-term project that connects botanical research, architecture, Korean culture, and environmental education.
The exhibition runs from 11 July to 28 September 2025 in the Upper Garden, near the children’s playground.
Opening hours match those of the garden: 9.00 am–7.00 pm.
Admission to the exhibition is included in the standard entrance fee to the botanical garden, which provides access to all expositions, exhibitions, and ongoing events (unless otherwise specified).
