Step into the ancient world with us! This year’s Pumpkin Exhibition will take you among dinosaurs, giant prehistoric insects, mammoths and early humans. Original pumpkin arrangements will be complemented by interactive activities, creative workshops, pumpkin carving and, to round it all off, our popular Halloween celebration with a lantern parade.

WHAT CAN YOU LOOK FORWARD TO?
This year’s Pumpkin Exhibition will be inspired by the ancient world. Sculptures complemented by imaginative pumpkin arrangements will take you through different periods of the distant past – from the world of dinosaurs and prehistoric insects to mammoths and early humans. Colourful autumn decorations will offer plenty of opportunities for discovery and photography, and there will also be interactive activities for visitors of all ages. The pumpkin arrangements will be created by students of the Czech Horticultural Academy in Mělník under the guidance of Petra Křížová, together with our gardeners.
The exhibition will also include pumpkins for sale and a varied programme of activities for families with children. This year, we have expanded our creative workshops to include weekdays as well. From Friday to Sunday, 9–11 October, and again from Thursday to Sunday, 15–18 October, visitors can enjoy a variety of creative activities. From 22–25 October, it will be time for pumpkin carving, while from 28 October to 1 November, visitors can make their own autumn lanterns. The workshops will take place in a heated tent in the multifunctional area, so you can enjoy them even in cooler autumn weather.
The exhibition will culminate on 31 October with a Halloween celebration featuring an afternoon programme, competitions and an evening lantern parade through the Garden.
BASIC AND PRACTICAL INFORMATION
When and where
Exhibition dates: 9 October–1 November 2026
Where: The exhibition will take visitors through several parts of the Botanical Garden’s outdoor areas – the Ornamental Garden, Upper Garden and Forest exhibition.
Workshops: multifunctional area, in a heated 20 × 10 metre tent.
Opening hours
From 9 to 31 October, the Botanical Garden’s outdoor areas are open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
On Sunday, 1 November, the Garden will also remain open until 7:00 p.m. especially for the Pumpkin Exhibition. Shorter winter opening hours will not come into effect until 2 November 2026.
Evening illumination
For most of the exhibition, the pumpkin installations will not be illuminated after dark. We therefore recommend planning your visit during daylight hours, when you can best enjoy the exhibition surrounded by the colours and atmosphere of the autumn Garden.
The exception will be the final weekend, 31 October and 1 November, when selected pumpkin installations will be specially illuminated from 6:00 p.m.
Admission
The Pumpkin Exhibition is included in the standard admission fee to Prague Botanical Garden.
Creative workshops are charged separately according to the individual activity – prices can be found below.

How to get here
There are several ways to reach the Garden, with public transport being the most convenient option. Parking is available only at the car park by the main Bohnice entrance and capacity is limited.

HOW TO GET HERE
ACCOMPANYING PROGRAMME
Throughout the exhibition, we have prepared several types of creative workshops. They will take place in the multifunctional area in a spacious, heated 20 × 10 metre tent, so you can enjoy the activities comfortably even in cooler autumn weather.
Workshops generally take place on the listed dates at the following times:
Thursday and Friday: 1:00–6:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
The last admission to the workshops is at 5:30 p.m. The exception is Halloween on 31 October, when the last admission for lantern making is at 5:15 p.m.
During the first week, the programme begins on Friday, 9 October, together with the opening of the exhibition. There will also be a special workshop session on Wednesday, 28 October, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Workshop fees can be paid in cash or by card.

Start your autumn creatively! Children can make a witch’s hat or try their hand at painting dinosaurs.

Pumpkin Carving | 22–25 October
Come and create your own pumpkin lantern or spooky pumpkin and get ready for the approaching Halloween celebrations.
Halloween pumpkins for carving will be available for purchase directly by the creative workshop tent in the multifunctional area for CZK 100. When purchasing a pumpkin, you will receive a token giving you access to the workshop.
Important: Admission to the pumpkin-carving workshop is only possible with a Halloween pumpkin purchased at our stand and upon presentation of the token.
You can also purchase an electric candle for CZK 20 and a paper bag to carry your finished pumpkin home.

HALLOWEEN AND LANTERN PARADE | 31 OCTOBER
Enjoy the magical atmosphere of Halloween. On the last day of October, you can look forward to an afternoon full of music, competitions and creative activities, culminating in our traditional lantern parade through the Garden after dark.
During the afternoon, there will be music and competitions for visitors of all ages in the Ornamental Garden. At the same time, you can make your own lantern in the multifunctional area and get ready for the evening parade.
From 6:00 p.m., selected pumpkin installations will also be illuminated, creating the perfect Halloween atmosphere throughout the Garden.

Lantern Parade
At 6:00 p.m., we will set off together from Café Ornament on a lantern parade through the Garden after dark.
REFRESHMENTS
No autumn outing is complete without something tasty. From Thursday to Sunday during the exhibition, refreshment stands will be available in the Ornamental Garden and near the World of Succulents exhibition in the northern part of the Garden, close to the Bohnice entrance.
During the first week, the stands will be open from Friday, 9 October, when the exhibition begins.
You can look forward to halušky (traditional potato dumplings), pancakes, lángos, gyros and other treats.
