Step into a prehistoric world! This year’s Pumpkin Exhibition takes you on a journey back in time to a world of dinosaurs, giant prehistoric insects, mammoths and early humans. Along the way, discover imaginative pumpkin displays, interactive activities, creative workshops and pumpkin carving. And to round things off, there will be our much-loved Halloween celebration, complete with a lantern parade through the garden.

WHAT’S ON?
This year’s Pumpkin Exhibition takes inspiration from the prehistoric world. Imaginative pumpkin displays and sculptures will take you through different periods of the distant past – from dinosaurs and prehistoric insects to mammoths and the first humans. Colourful autumn displays create a wonderful backdrop for exploring and taking photographs, while interactive activities will offer something for visitors of all ages.
The pumpkin displays are being created by students from the Czech Garden Academy in Mělník, working under the guidance of Petra Křížová, together with our gardeners.
The exhibition will also include a pumpkin stall and a programme of activities for families. This year, we have expanded our creative workshops to include weekdays. From Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October and from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 October, visitors can get creative with a range of seasonal activities. From 22 to 25 October, it’s time for pumpkin carving, while from 28 October to 1 November you can make your own autumn lanterns.
The workshops take place in the multifunctional area inside a spacious heated marquee, so you can get creative whatever the autumn weather.
The exhibition will culminate on 31 October with our Halloween celebration, featuring an afternoon programme of activities and competitions, followed by an evening lantern parade through the garden.

When and where
Exhibition dates: 9 October–1 November 2026
Where: The exhibition will take visitors through several areas of the Prague Botanical Garden’s Outdoor Expositions – the Ornamental Garden, Upper Garden and Forest Expositions.
Workshops: Multifunctional area, in a heated 20 × 10 m marquee.
Opening hours
From 9 to 31 October, the Outdoor Expositions are open daily from 9 am to 7 pm.
The garden will also be open until 7 pm on Sunday 1 November, especially for the Pumpkin Exhibition. Our shorter winter opening hours will come into effect on 2 November 2026.
Evening illumination of the exhibition
For most of the exhibition, the pumpkin displays will not be illuminated after dark. We therefore recommend visiting during daylight hours, when you can best appreciate the exhibition in all its colour, set against the atmosphere of the autumn garden.
The exception is the final weekend, 31 October and 1 November, when selected pumpkin displays will be specially illuminated from 6 pm.
Admission
The Pumpkin Exhibition is included in the standard admission to the Prague Botanical Garden.
Creative workshops are charged separately, depending on the activity. Prices are listed with the individual workshop details.
Getting here
The garden can be reached in several ways, with public transport being the most convenient option. Parking is available only in the parking lot by the Main Entrance from Bohnice, which has limited capacity.

ACTIVITIES & WORKSHOPS
Throughout the exhibition, we have prepared several different types of creative workshops. They take place in a multifunctional area inside a spacious, heated 20 × 10 m marquee, so you can get creative whatever the autumn weather.
Workshops take place on the advertised dates, generally:
Thursday and Friday: 1–6 pm
Saturday and Sunday: 10 am–6 pm
The last admission is 5.30 pm. The exception is Halloween on 31 October, when the last admission for lantern making is at 5.15 pm.
The first week starts on Friday 9 October, when the exhibition opens. There will also be a special workshop day on Wednesday 28 October, from 1–6 pm.

PUMPKIN CARVING | 22–25 OCTOBER 2026
Come and carve your own pumpkin lantern or spooky pumpkin and get ready for Halloween with us.
Halloween pumpkins for carving will be available to buy directly from the creative workshop marquee in the multifunctional area for CZK 100. When you purchase a pumpkin, you will receive a token granting you admission to the workshop.
Please note: you can only join the pumpkin-carving workshop with a Halloween pumpkin purchased from our stall and a valid token.
You can also purchase an electric candle for CZK 20 and a paper bag to make it easier to carry your finished pumpkin home. Payment is possible in cash or by card.

HALLOWEEN & LANTERN PARADE | 31 OCTOBER 2026
31 October will see the garden come alive with Halloween celebrations for visitors of all ages. Join us for an afternoon of music, competitions and creative activities, make your own lantern and, at 6 pm, take part in our traditional lantern parade through the garden after dark.
In the evening, selected pumpkin displays will also be specially illuminated, bringing an extra touch of Halloween magic to the garden.
REFRESHMENTS
No autumn outing is complete without something delicious to eat. From Thursday to Sunday throughout the exhibition, you’ll find refreshment stalls in the Ornamental Garden and by the World of Succulents exposition in the Upper Garden, near the Main Entrance from Bohnice.
During the first week, the stalls will open on Friday, 9 October, when the exhibition begins.
You’ll find halušky, pancakes, langos, gyros and other tasty treats.
