Charlie Chaplin was undoubtedly right by saying that civilized people go where the wine ripens. All wine lovers should therefore mark the weekend of 17 and 18 September in their calendars. During this period, one of the oldest vineyards in Prague comes alive with a harvest celebration. The great location near the river and unique view predestined the vineyards above the Troja castle not only for the production of quality grapes, but also for becoming an ideal location to properly enjoy the finished wines. The atmosphere of the festive weekend will be enhanced by a rich music program and delicious food. Especially, however, it will offer the best from Bohemian and Moravian winemakers. There will also be a rich selection of local products. This includes high-quality varietal wines and cuvées, supplemented by this year’s novelty, our sparkling wines. And it would not be a proper wine harvest celebration without burčák (federweisser) being poured. Traditionally, you can taste both the white and red wine varieties in the botanical garden in Troja. Come and enjoy the wine festival with a magical view of the Prague skyline. |
On both days of the weekend, a rich program will accompany you both directly at St Claire Vineyard, and in the pleasant surroundings of the blooming Ornamental Gardens. The music will be brought to you by Funk Corporation, Offbeat Orchestra, Šoulet, VnitruBlok, BítOff and many more!
There will be absolutely no shortage of entertainment, thanks to the event’s partner Radio Blaník, who will have their own stage at the wine harvest celebration!
Do you want to discover the secrets of the production of local wines? Then don’t miss out on the option of a guided tour of the vineyard. Tours will take place on both days at no extra cost on top of the admission fee. If you’re interested, the meeting point is at the wine glass dispensary at St Claire Vineyard.
In addition to wines from the local vineyard, the products of other leading wineries from Bohemia, Moravia, and even from abroad will be present. For example, you will taste wines from Konečný Winery, Maděryč Winery, Hrozínek Winery, Kutná Hora Winery, Pavel Chorouš Winery, Mikrosvín Winery, or Spanish wines from Tombalina and many others.
Good wine goes well with good food and coffee. The highest quality meat delicacies from HellSmoke, grilled mackerel on a stick from Mmamakrela, cheese delicacies from Cheesy House, Olympia Greek delicacies, mom dumplings from Café Tibet but also the aroma of coffee from the Café Poeta stands and whole grain and gluten-free pastries from Pekárny Dvorník await you.
This year’s offer of St Claire Vineyard is expanded by a limited edition of three varietal sparkling wines. These sparkling wines have been produced in cooperation with Progin Velké Němčice using the classic method of fermentation in the bottle. These wines were aged in the bottle for 15 months.
“We are including sparkling wines from our production on our menu for the first time. You can look forward to two interesting sparkling wines from the Pinot Noir variety, namely white wine made from blue grapes – Blanc de Noirs, classified as brut nature, and also brut sparkling rosé. We chose Pinot Noir primarily because it is a typical variety for our vineyard, it is popular and we have good experience with it. It is a very variable wine variety. Our range of sparkling wine will also be expanded by dry rosé of the Blue Portugal variety.” explains Vladimíra Egertová, head of St Claire Vineyard.
The schedule of the accompanying program, the offer of refreshments and wines, including other practical information, are continuously adjusted and supplemented.
